.CSFS Youth Conference 2008 Chris Carver CSFS Youth Conference 2008 “Walk Tall” Call for Presenters The CSFS youth conference planning committee invites interested individuals / groups to facilitate workshops for the 2008 CSFS Youth Conference, to be held at the Prince George Civic Centre on April 1,2,3 2008 in Prince George, BC. This year’s theme is “Walk Tall.”
It is anticipated that 400 Aboriginal youth 14-25 years of age from across the North will attend. Workshop length is 90 minutes and can be repeated throughout the week. The activity and/or workshop size can range from 40 to 120 participants. Workshop space is limited and some travel assistance is available. The goal of “Walk Tall 2008 CSFS Youth Conference” is to foster youth empowerment through nurturing and building self esteem; and preferences of workshops will be given to those fostering youth empowerment through building self esteem. Presenters/facilitators will need to provide interactive healthy lifestyle & prevention workshops that teach the youth to honour their mind, body, and spirit. Due to the intergenerational impacts of colonization and residential schools, our youth do not always have a strong connection to their culture; therefore we would like to encourage Elders to present and host Elder and youth sessions to revitalize self identity and strengthen their connection their culture and traditions.
